A new year brings new changes; why not change the look of a room in your home with just paint? 2016 is proving to bring some exciting mood inducing colors to the market that homeowners should consider. As a designer, looking at these forecasts help us to come up with some good choices for our clients, many of which the client has never seen. In this article I will look at the 2016 color predictions of the two top paint manufactures Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore.
Both Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore chose white as their color of the year. Sherwin-Williams is Alabaster and Benjamin Moore chose Simply White.
Sherwin-Williams predicts 4 new palettes, I look at 3 of them; “Pura Vida” is defined as materials that are organic and natural, marble hues that go from grey to khaki to neutrals. Colors such as Ancient Marble, Doeskin, Alabaster, Unfussy Beige and Useful Grey depicted in the below pictures.
Sherwin-Williams next leads 2016 with the “Nouveau Narrative” color pallet which hones in on the industrial machinery from the 20th century. Relic Bronze Metallic, Urban Putty, Roycroft Pewter, Crabby Apple and Naval make some really nice color choices.
The “Trajectory Collection” is focused on technology and the constant speed of our lives. Quixotic Plum, Blackberry, Aqua-Sphere and Tempe Star and Purple Passage used to make fun and beautiful color combinations.
Benjamin Moore predictions for 2016 are all based off their white collection. Various shades of white are combined with sometimes another shade of white such as in the below picture. The walls are Paper White and the floor and trim is Ice Mist.
Benjamin Moore also pairs their shades of white with a pop of color such as Banana Yellow, Ravishing Red and Enchanted to make a bold statement.
2016 will continue to see new trends in interior paint colors, don’t be afraid to try something new you might find out you really love it…and if you don’t…it is only paint.
